Are you looking for an international health or therapy internship?
Our health and therapy internships in South Africa allow you to make a meaningful contribution to improve medical and therapeutic services for South Africa’s poorest population. You will work alongside health professionals such as doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, speech therapists or occupational therapists in special needs schools or homes for children with disabilities. This will provide you with ample learning opportunities in your field of work and at the same time you gain a deep insight into the South African health system.
Our non-profit partners are particularly interested in applications from speech therapists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, remedial teachers as well as nurses and psychologists.

Occupational Therapy with Babies and Toddlers
Would you like to collect experience in occupational therapy and remedial education with babies and toddlers? In this temporary home for babies and toddlers with with physical, intellectual or emotional disorders you assist nurses, care takers as well as curative educators with early childhood development and therapy programmes.
Remedial Education - Children with Neorological Disorders
This small home for children and youth with severe physical and intellectual disabilities is looking for interns to assist the remedial teacher and therapists with educational and therapeutic programmes in the home's day centre for about 20 children.
Physiotherapy in Home for Children with Disabilities
You are studying physiotherapy and you are looking for an internship abroad? In this home for children with severe physical and intellectual disorders such as cerebral palsy, you will assist the physiotherapist with the treatment of cerebral movement disorders and other neurological and neuromuscular diseases.
Psychological Counselling Service
If you already have basic qualifications in psychology or social work, this project initiated by a group of psychologists in Cape Town is looking for your support: you have the opportunity to support the psycho-social support service at selected public high schools, assist with counselling tasks, therapeutic interventions as well as workshops to strengethen coping mechanisms of young people. You will be able to collect much practical experience with trauma therapy in a multi-cultural context.
Speech Therapy in Special Needs School
You are a speech therapist (in training) and you would like to collect international experience? You are looking for a social commitment and you enjoy working with school children? This public school for children with physical and intellectual disabilities and special learning needs is looking for your support and is offering great learning opportunities in speech therapy in a multi-lingual environment!
Occupational Therapy in Special Needs School
You are an occupational therapist or an occupational therapy student and you would like to collect international work experience in an African country? In this public school near Cape Town that caters for children with disabilities and special learning needs, you assist the team of occupational therapists with group and individual therapy sessions.
Mental Health Centre
This mental health centre offers a wide range of intervention programmes for people with mental disorders. Depending on your professional background, you support social workers or therapists in rehabilitation measures with clients. This internship is suitable in particular for occupational therapists, social workers and similar fields of study.
